Week 3 recap

Football is back in St. Louis, and The BattleHawks dominated. In a drunken blur the St. Louis BattleHawks ran all over the New York Guardians for a 29-9 BattleHawks victory. The Guardians used three quarterbacks to attempt to overcome the BattleHawks but to no avail, as the defense absolutely shut down any attempt for the Guardians to move the ball.
Matt McGloin, Luis Perez, and Marquise Williams each took snaps at quarterback Sunday afternoon. Together they threw for only 217 yards and one touchdown. The defense gave up more yards than any game thus far this season with only 307 yards allowed; yet they only let in one touchdown and one field goal in this one. They still managed to shut the guardians down gathering one interception and three sacks along the way. The defense also made 3 big fourth down stops throughout this game, one of which on their own 2-yard line for a huge momentum swing.

As mentioned in the preview, the BattleHawks were going to run the ball. Thirty-seven of sixty total offensive plays, they did just that. Matt Jones accumulated 95 yards rushing and a touchdown, While Christine Michael ran for 44 yards and a touchdown. The Guardian Defense didn’t stand a chance against this run game and it showed, allowing 156 of 273 total yards on the ground. With only throwing the ball eighteen times Jordan Ta’amu did not have to do much in this one to secure the victory.

Special teams played a huge rule in this game. Joe Powell took an 84 yard kickoff reverse from Keith Mumphery to the house for the first ever XFL kick return for a touchdown. A blocked punt from Carlton Agudosi in the second quarter. Along with the longest field goal in XFL history at 58 yards, Taylor Russolino also made two other field goals to seal this one up.

This was an absolute ass whooping of the New York Guardians who didn’t stand a chance in the first game at the Dome since 2015. The BattleHawks dismantled the New York Guardians from every aspect of the game. After losing last week, the BattleHawks made a big statement win to take the lead in the Eastern conference after a DC lose to LA. This team is on its way to do something special and every week they seem to be able to make huge changes to the game plan to be able to win games. Next week the BattleHawks look to take on a mediocre Seattle Dragons team at home.
